South Bronx Harlem River Park & Upland Links to the Harlem River

Friends of Brook Park worked with  NY4P to create conceptual plans for nearly one-acre of land on the Harlem River in Mott Haven, Bronx.  Learn more about the Community Design  Program: click here

NY4P Design Fellow Brooke Rosenthal from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, created plans that include a canoe launch, sculpture created by local artists, benches for passive recreation and a small promenade at the water¹s edge.  The site has potential to become a destination (from land and the water), as a park that celebrates its unique location on the Harlem River Waterfront.

We are thrilled that this project was included in the Department of City Planning¹s ³Bronx Harlem River Waterfront Bicycle and Pedestrian Study.²View the study.

Driven by visions created by these designs, the following grants have been awarded to our community efforts: $100,000 from New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) that will go toward creating upland links to the waterfront with street-tree plantings in the Mott Haven / Port Morris neighborhoods.
