Who we are:
Friends of Brook Park is a coalition of residents, parents, educators, workers, home and business owners and community based organizations in the South, South Bronx dedicated to managing and revitalizing an important and unique open green space. We are at an exciting juncture in the redesign of an asphalt portion of the Park... and you can be involved!

What We Do:
Our community gardening Eat Well, Play Hard partnership with United Way provides organic vegetables to the needy. We cultivate the Earth and introduce youth and adults to indigenous teachings. We host Labyrinth walks, art and dance workshops and a summer film series. We are linked with local schools and literacy projects and practice ecological pest management with beneficial insect releases.

We build multi-cultural bridges and have welcomed new arrivals from Mexico and the Caribbean Islands to our community. We have hosted visitors from Russia, Colombia, Chile, Japan, Sweden, Scotland, South Africa, Arizona, Romania, Cambodia, California, Greece, the Carolinas and elsewhere.

Thanks to financial support from: NYSDEC, United Way, USDA Forest Service, Hudson River Foundation NYC Environmental Fund, Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation, Bronx Council on the Arts and individuals like you! We also work with Citizens Committee, Bronx Green-Up, PS 30, Pueblo en Marcha, FRIENDS, Mott Haven Prep, VNSNY, St. Benedict's, Times Up, Freedom Center and more!

We were selected from a regional competition by the USDA's Forest Service for a Living Memorials grant, to create a place of healing and tranquility in the aftermath of 9-11. Working with the Department of Parks and Recreation we will remove the leftover asphalt, increase the greenery, plant fruit and cedar trees, create a natural labyrinth and uncover an underground brook! Thanks to caminodepaz.org and Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation for their support in working with local high schoolers to vision and create models of how the Park will look! Visit Here.
